WHAT IS STEAM?

At it's core, STEAM is an educational approach that emboldens students to explore and solve real-world scenarios with Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. STEAM lessons often focus on art or design as a means to creatively coalesce one or more of the STEAM fields.

STEM VS. STEAM

STEM was first developed as employers felt the growing need for workers with knowledge and expertise in science, engineering, technology, and mathematics.  After years of focusing on STEM fields alone, it became apparent to many corporations and educators that art and design needed to be included in order to promote creativity and interdisciplinary-thinking.

MUSIC AND STEAM

Music has been connected with the STEM disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and math long before STEM was a buzz word in education. Professional fields such as acoustics, sound engineering, instrument manufacturing, and many others have demanded the creativity and technical prowess associated with STEAM education.

STEAM MUSIC LESSONS AND CONTENT

FOR ALL AGES

STEAM lessons are available to students of all ages. As with all of my lessons, I work with parents and students to make sure my lessons are tailored to the needs of your family. STEAM lessons can be predominantly exploratory and experience-based for younger students. They can also involve more technical skills and complex objectives to challenge older students.

Many of these lessons work well as a supplement to traditional lessons or in combination with each other. I can fuse all desired activities and content into each lesson or sequence them into a logical order.

AUDIO RECORDING AND PRODUCTION

These lessons are perfect for students who already play an instrument and want to combine their playing with digital music software. In these lessons students will learn the basics of audio recording and sequencing software. They will learn how to balance and layer multiple audio tracks and then edit recordings into finished products.
